1, PhD position on graphene based electronics to Condensed Matter Theory group
Reference number 2008/128
Application deadline 2008-08-30
Department of Applied Physics.
Job description
Graphene, a monolayer of graphite, was isolated only four years ago. Results on its properties have since then been published at a breathtaking pace. Substituting present-day semiconductor materials by graphene is predicted to significantly enhance the performance of existing components such as field effect transistors (FETs). The prospects of graphene-based electronic components together with the intense worldwide research effort imply that the field is of great strategic importance, and the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research has recently decided to fund a research program in this field at the Chalmers University of Technology.
A PhD student position in the Condensed Matter Theory group, Department of Applied Physics, in the field of theoretical modelling of graphene-based nanoelectronic and nanoelectromechanical components, with focus on fast graphene-based transistors.
The position include teaching and departmental duties up to 20% of the time.
Qualifications
Suitable background for the positions is a M.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field. You is expected to work relatively independently, have ability to plan and organize the work, and be able to communicate the scientific results, both orally and in writing, in English.
Application procedure
The material included in the application shall consist of pdf or zipped documents:
1. An application of a maximum of one A4 page containing your specific qualifications for the position
2. Attested copies of education certificates, including grade reports and other documents
3. Curriculum Vitae
4. Letters of recommendation from academic institutions and/or previous employers (optional)
The application can be submitted electronically, use the button at the end of this page.
If any material is not available electronically or cannot be transferred to pdf format, the material can be sent as a hard copy to Registrar. The applicants name and the reference number (2008/128) must be written on the first page of the application.
